BIA Confirms Its Intention to Undermine Legitimate Tribal Government.

PR Newswire Nov 10 , 2006

STOCKTON, Calif., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bureau of Indian Affairs ("BIA") confirms that despite years of a government-to-government relationship with California Valley Miwok Tribe with Silvia Burley as Chairperson, it will disregard its recognition of a legitimate tribal government.

The BIA intends to post a publication allowing almost anyone including murders and registered sex offenders to establish a new tribal government to lead the tribe.

As previously reported, this process began when a non-Indian, Chadd Everone hired Washington, D.C. attorney, Elizabeth Walker and two other attorneys, Arlo Smith, a former California Gambling Control Commission (CGCC) commissioner and Peter Melnicoe, a former CGCC attorney to assist him with inappropriate influence over the BIA.

Under the leadership of Burley, The CVMT continues to work diligently with the state and federal government to clarify what the facts are surrounding this faction of insurgents who are bent on destroying its tribal heritage in pursuit of a fictitious casino deal.
